Well, I really never thought I would be doing something like this. I only recently found out what a blog even was and I sure didn't plan on ever having one. I mean its just an electronic diary that you let other people read. How gay. But here I am typing. So why am I doing this? Well I really enjoy playing poker and I am hoping to take my game to the next level in 2007. A lot of the people who are successful at playing poker online have these blogs and I can see ways how I may be able to benefit from having one myself.
One way I think this will help is putting some goals in writing. I am still working on what those goals are going to be and I am leaning towards posting just some general goals that I have for the year, but I probably won't get around to posting those till tomorrow. Putting these goals in writing, and putting a plan together showing how I am going to reach those goals, is something I hope will help me stay focused through the year.
Another way I hope this helps is to force me to look at and deal with my losses better. I hate to lose, so I don't handle my losses in the best manner. Losing sessions are just a part of poker and I need to get a better grip on this to be able to make my overall game better. I'm hoping that the accountability of having to post, and look at my losing sessions, will help me become stronger mentally.
Probably the biggest reason for me doing this is so I feel accountable for keeping a proper record on whats happening with my game. I love to play poker, but I hate keeping records on all of it. Even as simple as it is to fire up pokertracker when playing, its something I usually don't do. In order to step up my game I need the data from PT to examine. I need to study my game and find ways to improve and I cant do that without the proper records. This is hard for me because I would much rather play poker than study it so by forcing myself to do this will force me to use and analyze my stats a lot more.
